Review: Shadow Warrior 2

One of the most challenging things for me is the full play-through of any video game.  With five children and a full time job I find it’s difficult to get the time necessary to complete many games.  Add to that the explosion of gaming in the last few years and you have a recipe for an extended backlog. One such game on my backlog was Shadow Warrior 2.  This game was developed by the indie studio Flying Wild Hog and published by Devolver Digital in October of 2016.  I originally purchased the game shortly after release for two reasons. ...

Tis the Season

Blizzard is very good at a good many things when it comes to game development and player retention.  I’ve always said that while Blizzard may not be the most original development house out there, they have brought an amount of polish and evolution to any genre they decide to enter.  Case in point, the ongoing story that is Diablo 3. The Games of 2015

Welcome one and all to the year 2016.  The previous year is over and it really wasn’t all that bad from many standpoints.  I did finally get a chance to start using the beating of games as a goal about the middle of the year and have a little list of games I was able to beat during 2015.  I’m sure I beat a few games before I started this list, which happened about the middle of 2015, but as I couldn’t completely remember when certain game completions had actually happened I decided to let them go.  In 2016,...

Most Anticipated Games of 2016

So between the joy and chaos of the holiday combined with a fun little bout of illness I’ve been a bit lax on updates for some time now.  Hopefully I can get back into the rhythm of things going forward but with five kids, who knows? With 2015 coming to an end in a week it’s time to start looking forward to 2016 and the games being released.  Of course these are all simply announced dates that could be moved about at the whim of the developer so take 2016 with a grain of salt.  Here are a few...

Review: Broforce

Broforce is a game that original slipped under my radar.  At first glance it seems to be a rather primitive game with few redeeming features.  All it took was one Steam sale and several hours of play time to prove that first glance was misinformed though I would add that it’s not all rose petals and bullets. Broforce, for those who were like I was so recently, is a side scrolling shoot-em-up that initially makes me think of Contra.  This is due to the fact that Contra had two “Bro” style characters, the screen always scrolled to the right, and your...
